International Tourists
Unlike most of north-east India, foreign tourists do not need restricted area permit to visit North-Bengal. Although the region is worth a deko in its own right, it can also be seen as a go between other major tourist destinations. Darjeeling is arguably the oldest and the most famous of all the destinations in north-east, the hills of Kalimpong is also getting its fare share of attention.
The Dooars has tremendous potential for jungle and offbeat tourism activity. The ethnic groups of Dooars includes Rava, Toto, Gorkha, Lepcha, Bhutia, Santhals and many others. Dooars is the melting pot of different ethnic groups.
