Where Exactly is Batabari?

Batabari is located in the Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal, nestled in the eastern Himalayan foothills. Just about 80 kilometres from Siliguri, this little village is part of the larger Dooars belt—an area known for its biodiverse forests, rich tribal culture, and some of the most scenic drives in eastern India.

How to Reach Batabari

The nearest airport is Bagdogra, as it is for the whole of Dooars. Bagdogra is about 85 kilometres away and takes about 1.5 hours to reach. For those who prefer the rhythm of the rails, New Mal Junction is the closest railway station, just 18 kilometres away.

Driving from Siliguri is a pleasure in itself. You can come here either through the Sevoke hills or via Gajoldoba. Both routes offer mesmerising forest and tea garden views on the way.

The crown jewel of Batabari’s location is its closeness to Gorumara National Park. This protected forest is a treasure trove of wildlife, including Indian one-horned rhinoceroses, elephants, leopards, gaurs, and an astonishing variety of birds.
